Ablation Zone refers to the anatomy of a glacier, where the area of ice loss is most dominant. Ablation is the melting of snow or ice that runs off the glacier by way of evaporation, sublimation, calving, or erosive removal of snow by wind. This the area of the glacier where the artist spent most of her time observing, listening and documenting the icescapes.
