Ablation Zone

2108

Photographic Diptych

Ablation Zone is a photographic diptych grounded in the anatomy of a glacier—specifically the region where ice loss is most pronounced. Named after the area where melting, sublimation, calving, and wind erosion actively reshape the glacial body, the work emerges from the artist’s extended presence within this threshold of change.

Spending time in the ablation zone, the artist observed, listened, and documented the transient character of the icescape. Through this intimate engagement, Ablation Zone reflects on impermanence, environmental vulnerability, and the quiet forces that shape—and unshape—landscapes.

Exhibited at Doswell Gallery in 2018.
